How to Get the Most Out of Posters at ONS Congress®

This year at ONS Congress, you will have the opportunity to view approximately 750 posters presented by colleagues in oncology nursing. While the number of posters can feel a little overwhelming, you can do a few things to maximize this opportunity:
- Start early! Did you know that posters are available in the ONS Congress app and schedule website beginning in early April? You can view posters and optional accompanying videos from the authors to learn about their work before, during, and after your time at ONS Congress and on your personal device.
- Mark your calendar! Each poster has an assigned session when the author will present live for 10 minutes at ONS Congress. Mark the times of the posters that you want to view or authors you may wish to talk with. You can view the poster session schedule on the app or on the website.
- Bring your phone to take notes! Information on posters can be rapid fire, and it can be hard to absorb it all during the session. Jot down some quick notes in your phone or take a quick photo to help you remember author contacts, interesting findings, or ideas you may have.
- Talk to the authors! Don’t be afraid to talk to the poster authors during their poster sessions. We all love to talk about our work, and I promise the authors will be so thrilled to answer your questions and speak with you. You might even make a connection or meet a new collaborator.
- Visit the Poster Pavilion at your own pace! So many exciting things are happening at ONS Congress, but you just can’t be in two places (or at two posters) at once. If you miss a poster presentation, you can walk the Poster Pavilion at your own pace during session times to view posters on the large monitors.
- Don’t forget to claim NCPD! To do this, select ‘Anytime Posters’ in your evaluation and select the number of posters you viewed to earn your NCPD contact hours. You can receive one contact hour for every 12 posters you view. Pro tip—When you view a poster in the app or on the schedule website, you can star it. This will allow you to track your poster views and add up the total for your evaluation.
- Consider submitting an abstract for a poster at the 2025 ONS Congress! It’s not too early to begin thinking about presenting your own work at the 50th Annual ONS Congress in Denver, CO. Abstract submissions will open in August 2024.
Here are some additional tips to help you get the most out of the poster presentations at ONS Congress this year. And if you’re not already registered to join us, there’s still time—register today.
