Congress session sneak peek

Are you interested in the specialty of radiation oncology or already working in the field? Do you work in a large academic medical center, hospital, standalone radiation therapy facility, local urgent care, rural community area, or even a primary care office? Do you care for patients receiving specialized radiation or who have previously received radiation? Do you provide symptom management for patients experiencing acute or late side effects from radiation?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, I encourage you to attend the radiation-intensive session, Deciphering the Specialty of Oncology Radiation on Wednesday, April 27, from 1 to 3 pm at ONS Congress®.

Using a case study approach, you will hear from a panel of radiation oncology experts: Charles Simone, MD, research professor and chief medical officer at New York Proton Center and Memorial Kettering Cancer Center; Joscelyn Vanduren, MSN, FNP-C, nurse practitioner in Alaska; Sydne Mead-Smith, MSN, RN, OCN®, from the University of Washington and an expert in caring for patients with complex head and neck cancers; and Barbara Farley-McDonnell, RT(T) (ARRT), assistant chief radiation therapist at Temple University Hospital-Fox Chase Cancer Center Campus.

The discussion will explore radiation therapy options for a variety of cancers, interprofessional team members and their roles in caring for patients with cancer who require radiation therapy, considerations for planning and implementing care in specialty populations, and access to care in remote areas. I hope to see you at this exciting session!
